The Beaumont Police Department believes in having a strong relationship with our community. We actively nurture this connection through a variety of community programs and year-round outreach initiatives.

In a world where tensions surrounding law enforcement is on the rise, the Beaumont Police Department is continually working to build community trust.

Programs for Adults

Citizens Police Academy (CPA)

The Citizens Police Academy is a free 15-week training program for Jefferson County residents ages 18 and up, providing insights into law enforcement. In collaboration with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Port Arthur Police Department, the program occurs twice yearly in fall and spring, offering firsthand experiences in various aspects of law enforcement, including traffic, K9s, SWAT, fraud, and firearms.

CPA Alumni can contribute to department events and outreach, while Citizens in Action volunteers support community policing by patrolling parks, conducting traffic surveys, and issuing handicap parking citations.

Neighborhood Associations

Getting involved in your local neighborhood association is a great way to stay informed about what’s happening in your community directly from those involved. Beaumont boasts 12 active neighborhood associations that convene regularly. Each association is assigned an officer liaison who actively addresses community concerns and disseminates relevant statistics and tips specific to that neighborhood and area.

This proactive approach enhances communication and builds relationships, contributing to a reduction in crime. For additional information, call 409-880-3825.

FREE Women’s Self Defense

Designed to teach basic self-defense and situational awareness, our Women’s Self Defense classes are taught by BPD officers. All classes are FREE and available to community members. Follow Beaumont Police Department’s Facebook page for class announcements or sign-up for their email list by emailing Officer Haley Morrow.

Education & Safety Seminars

BPD provides complimentary educational programs for individuals and businesses. You have the option to request an officer-led active shooter training session for your organization or arrange a talk or seminar on crime prevention, safe driving, online sales, senior safety, or any topic customized to your interests.

To join this initiative, clergy members must undergo a selection process led by the Chief, including the completion of the 10-week C.A.P.P. Academy.

Inspire, Encourage, Achieve (I.E.A.)

BPD officers collaborate with at-risk youth from Jefferson County Juvenile Probation in a mentoring program, engaging in activities such as fitness and games that integrate counseling, tutoring, and family support with a goal to break the cycle of violence and reduce recidivism through trust-based relational intervention.

Community Liaisons

Crime Stoppers

The Beaumont Police Department collaborates closely with Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas, a program that incentivizes citizens to provide anonymous tips leading to arrests and crime resolution in exchange for cash rewards, fostering a safer community by encouraging individuals to contribute valuable information while maintaining anonymity.

The 100 Club

The 100 Club provides emotional and financial support for the dependents and family of first responders who tragically pass or are injured in the line of duty. Well-recognized within communities, the 100 Club began in Houston when 100 men each contributed $100 to help the families of Houston Police Officers killed in the line of duty.
