Have you ever wondered what kind of training a police officer must undergo to do his or her job?
Now’s your chance to get hands-on and find out!
The Citizens Police Academy is an extensive and engaging fourteen-week training program that is thoughtfully designed to offer invaluable insights into the intricate world of law enforcement. We warmly extend this opportunity to residents of Jefferson County who are at least 18 years of age, and it comes at no cost to the participants. Our goal with this program is to create a stronger and more informed community by educating and exposing our citizens to the operations, responsibilities, and challenges faced by the dedicated law enforcement agencies that serve our region.
Run by the Police Community Relations division in coordination with the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, throughout the fourteen weeks, participants have the chance to delve into various aspects of law enforcement, discovering the many roles and responsibilities of the agencies that work tirelessly to protect and serve our community. This program provides an inside look into the day-to-day operations, the technology and tools used, and the strategies employed by law enforcement professionals. It’s an eye-opening experience that goes beyond what you might see on television or read in the news and a first-hand look into the complex issues that law enforcement faces daily.
You’ll Learn About Topics Like:
