The Blue Santa program was started over 30 years ago by the kindness of a few officers who wanted to ensure the children of Beaumont have a magical Christmas. They purchased toys from their own pockets to help the children in need, and since then, the program has grown and grown thanks to our awesome partners and organizations. Unlike other cities, children cannot self-sign up to receive gifts; rather, officers nominate families in need that they encounter throughout the year.

This year, over 150 families and 300 children received toys and gifts. Our goal is to develop long-term relationships with the community – we keep in contact with many of the families and check on them year after year. And it doesn’t end after the holiday season – officers will go out anytime to assist these families in need.

Every year, the community is invited to gather on the steps of the Beaumont Police Department to see Blue Santa off as he travels around the City to deliver toys to the children of Beaumont with his police escort, motorcycle brigade, and volunteers. It’s something citizens can look forward to every holiday season.

Fun Facts about the Blue Santa Program:

  • Officers meet with each family and personally shop for each child to make sure that they get exactly what they want from their list that’s age and gender appropriate.
  • Each gift is wrapped and individually labelled so each child has something to open on Christmas morning.
  • Gifts can range from learning toys and bikes to laptops and TVs/DVDs based on what each family will most benefit from. 
  • Local middle schools help sort and wrap the gifts.
